Darwin E. Hill, age 79 of Shawano, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday evening, May 23, 2017.
Darwin was born on September 12, 1937 in Shawano, a son of the late Elmer and Alvira (Schreiber) Hill. He was baptized into God’s family on October 6, 1937 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 6, 1952. Darwin graduated from Shawano High School in 1956. He married the love of his life, Janice Peterman, on September 27, 1958, and they were blessed with two children.
Darwin loved telling stories, drinking coffee with friends at McDonalds, and driving his tractor at the cabin. His favorite time of year was deer hunting season. He waited all year for this special week with his family and friends. Deer hunting will never be the same without Dad in his “special hunting stand”.
Darwin is survived by his daughter, Catherine (James) Hoffman of Shawano; his son, Scott (Pam) Hill of Shawano; his granddaughters, Amanda (Aaron) Cawthorn, of Norwalk, IA, Alicia Mraz of Shawano, Kayla and Karissa Hill of DePere; his grandson, Trevor Schutt of Shawano; his great-grandchildren, Jonah and Kira Cawthorn of Norwalk, IA; his sister, Marcie Herrmann of Shawano; his brother Leland (Jackie) Hill of Shawano; his sister-in-law, Margie Ainsworth of Bonduel; his brother-in-law, Robert Koehler of IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, of 42 years; his sister, Ina Rae Krizan; his sister-in-law, Shirley Koehler; and his brothers-in-law, Vernon Herrmann, John Krizan, Sr., and Gordon Ainsworth.
