Police say an accident that occurred in Oconto County was caused by alleged drunk driving, rather than distracted driving. Officers investigated the scene of a vehicle in a ditch Sunday evening on County Highway R. Officers say they were told by the driver of the vehicle, 64-year-old Daryl J. Tekus, that he was distracted by his dog eating in his vehicle. Deputies later determined that Tekus was allegedly under the influence after he failed his sobriety test. Court records show this the 6th OWI arrest for Tekus. Police say no injuries were reported.
