Donald D. Pleshek , age 82, a beloved Bohemian, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home in the Town of Waukechon.
Don was born on November 5, 1934, a son of the late Bernard “Buck” and Marcella “Sally” (Raatz) Pleshek. Don started his education at Porter School, moving on to graduate from Shawano High School in 1952. Following school he was drafted and served his country in the U.S. Army’s 4th Armored Division. He was stationed in Ulm, Germany for two years. After the military, Don came home to work at the family business, Pleshek’s Pavilion. Over the years, in addition to bartending, hosting large farm weddings, and running a meat locker, Don started several businesses including a saw mill, fire wood and Christmas tree farm. Don also had a love for logging cedar swamps in the February winters, then processing the cedar into lumber, poles, and posts throughout the summer months. A true “Cedar Savage”. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier.
Don enjoyed the good things that life had to offer, some arguably in excess. These included the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, strawberries, playing cribbage, Bud Lite, gardening, wood working, hunting, spending time with his grandkids, banana cream pie, and possibly a sturgeon or two from the mighty Wolf River. Don was blessed to have two children who he was very proud of, and his greatest joy was deer hunting with the boys and close friends at Camp Ruff-It.
Don is survived by his children, Joe (Wanda) Pleshek of Cambridge, WI, and Matt (Beverly) Pleshek of Bonduel; his grandchildren, Brock, Ava, Lila, and James Pleshek; his cousins, Mary (Jim) Marohl and Paul (Mary) Pleshek; and his special friend, Jan Born. Don was preceded in death by his parents.

A service will be held at 6:30 PM with Deacon James Lonick and Bert Grover officiating. Full military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Shawano AmVets Post 10.
