The Shawano High School horticulture class is holding a spring plant sale this week, beginning on Wednesday, May 10. The plants will be on sale from 8:00a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Plants can be purchased at entrance “I” by the greenhouse at the high school. Horticulture student Alexys Paiser says you won’t want to miss your chance.
“Usually within the first two to three days we are completely sold out and there’s over 40 different variety of plants that we are selling” said Paiser. Come on out and help support our students and Ag education.”
Paiser adds the horticulture class puts a lot of hard work into grooming the plants so they can be sold.
“We have been doing this for the past several months. It’s getting the plants and cutting them, getting them planted, watering them, and then just grooming them and getting them ready until the sale.”The sale will continue weekdays from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. until they sell out.
The students said vegetable plants and hanging baskets are usually the first to sell. The money raised will go towards preparing for next years sale.
The students in the Horticulture class say it is very educational to learn about how and when plants grow, and the best way to ensure plants that turned out well by the time of the annual sale.
