Milford D. “Pooter” Mohawk III, age 44 of Bowler, began his journey to the Spirit World on May 4, 2017 at his home.
Pooter was born on December 2, 1972 in Shawano, a son of Milford Mohawk, Jr. and the late Janis (Davids) Mohawk. He attended the Bowler Schools, graduating from Bowler High School in 1990. Pooter had been employed at the casino and at the Mohican Wellness Center. On June 27, 2009 he was united in marriage to the former Deanna Verhaagh at the Stockbridge Munsee Many Trails Park.
Pooter enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children whom he loved so dearly. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gathering resources from the forest. He will be greatly remembered by his family for his huge fish fries which he hosted at his home for family get-togethers, as well as his ability to make people laugh and feel welcome.
Survivors include his loving wife, Deanna; his children, Louise Mohawk, Dylan “Mashakwett” Mohawk, Tashyla “Mashaktokewin” Mohawk, Anahkwett Waupoose, Kiwaekum Waupoose, and Benjamin Stevens; his grandchildren, Xavier, Axton, Lorilie, and Mason; his father, Milford (special friend, LouAnn Jacobs) Mohawk, Jr. of Bowler; his sisters, Kathleen (Norman) Shawanokasic of Legend Lake, Karrie (Lawrence Tucker) Mohawk of Bowler; his brother, Kevin (Cheryl Kitson) Mohawk of Keshena; and his special brother, Larry (Shelley) Davids. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janis Louise (Davids) Mohawk, whom he missed and loved dearly.
Funeral services for Milford D. “Pooter” Mohawk III will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness. Pooter’s uncle, Woody Davids, will officiate. Interment will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds. Visitation will begin on Saturday, May 6, 2017 after 2:00 PM at the Karrie Mohawk residence, N8683 Poplar St., Bowler and on Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
