A student of Pulaski High School was charged by prosecutors earlier this week after allegations that he threatened to shoot up the school during graduation. According to records, 17-year-old Raven Jowarski also made threats against a school resource officer and his K-9. While police say Jowarski acknowledged making the threats, he also added that he did not intend to carry the threats out. Pulaski District Administrator Bec Kurzynske says regardless of recent events, the school district intends to ensure student safety.
“Safety and security are always a top priority for a school district” said Kurzynske. “We can’t educate our students if we can’t keep them safe.”
Kurzynske said even though recent events took place, the district is always evaluating procedures and ways to improve safety.
“We will approach that differently or the same depending on our assessment, and we will work with the Pulaski Police Department to make sure people are safe and are able to enjoy the events.” Jawarski is being held on $2,500 cash bond for making terrorist threats and school officials say to err on the side of caution, there will be extra security and events such as the upcoming prom and graduation ceremony.
Kurzynske said the school is still moving forward. “We are still Raider Strong”.
