With warm weather right around the corner, it won’t be long before many amusement parks will be buzzing with excitement again.
Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay is set to open its gates next month, and many will be keeping their eye on the status of the Zippin’ Pippin.
Last summer, the ride was shut down for nearly three weeks, following an incident where a set of cars failed to stop and crashed into the train ahead of it. One rider and two workers were injured in the incident.
Investigators discovered violations to the ride, but were unable to determine an exact cause of the accident, thus reopening the ride with only one set of cars. This year, the city will elect to operate the ride again with only one set of cars, until they can guarantee there is no potential for a re-occurrence.
The Zippin’ Pippin opened at Bay Beach in 2011.
