The week in prep sports started with some exciting finishes on both the Baseball and Softball Diamond.
SOFTBALL
Hestekin tosses No-No
Kaukauna 1, Appelton East 0
Hailey Hestekin led Kaukauna to a 1-0 win over Appleton East, tossing a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. The win keeps Kaukauna in the race for the FVA title.
Shiocton 8, Amherst 0
Sydney Wilcox allowed just one hit in an 8-0 shutout of Amherst. Shiocton’s pitcher struck out 12. The Chiefs were led at the plate by Gabby Gunderson’s 3 for 4 day that included two doubles and home run.
Weyauwega-Fremont 10, Bonduel 0
Kiley Akey shut the Bonduel bats down and helped Weyauwega-Fremont stay in the CWC-8 lead with a 10-0 win over the Bears. Akey helped her own cause with a pair of hits and drove in two runs.
New London 5, Luxemburg-Casco 3
New London scored two late runs to top Luxemburg-Casco 5-3 in an old Bay Conference battle. Leah Porath kept the Spartan bats quiet enough for the win. Erin O’Connell scored twice for New London. Cassie Dart took the loss, but was 2 for 4 on the day.

Gresham Struggles Against Tigerton

The Tigerton Tigers used strong pitching and defense to top Tigerton 7-3. Alan Parrott earned the win for the Tigers, while adding three hits. Travis Marquardt had the big bat with four hits.
Xavier Slugs Shawano In Twinbill
Xavier 14, Shawano 4
The Xavier Hawks got to Kasey Bauman early and often, scoring 6 runs in the first three innings, rolling to 14-4 win. The Hawks picked up 16 hits in the win. Nate De Young drove in four runs.

Xavier scored five runs in the third inning to take control and topped Shawano 11-6 in the nightcap.
Weyauwega-Fremont 3, Bonduel 2
Weyauwega-Fremont scored the game winning run in the 9th inning to top Bonduel 3-2. Brandon Scheer drove in the game winner with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Jordan Boldt took the loss for Bonduel and was 2 for 4 at the plate.
