It was announced Monday night that former Ashwaubenon boys varsity basketball head coach, John Miron, will be replacing John VanRossum as the varsity head coach for the Freedom Irish.
Miron had stepped down from his position at Ashawaubenon, where he had spent the previous four seasons. He also took Kimberly to back-to-back Division 2 state championships in 1994 and 1995.
With Miron at the helm, Ashwaubenon went 12-12 this previous season and fell to Kaukauna in a WIAA Division 2 regional. He posted an overall record of 57-37 during his tenure with the Jaguars.
Part of the reason for Miron’s departure, he cites, was the travel it required from his home in Kimberly. He’ll be replacing John VanRossum, who had coached Freedom to a 15-9 overall record, good for third place in the North Eastern Conference.
John Miron has been selected as the next Varsity Boys Basketball Coach! Welcome Coach Miron to the Freedom Irish family.
