With the excitement and anticipation of the release of the NFL schedule, one local TV network announced Thursday that they will be continuing their partnership with the Green Bay Packers, as the Official Packers Station in Green Bay.
NBC 26 will continue to broadcast all of the team’s preseason games, while also carrying weekly programming, such as Packers Live with Larry McCarren and The Mike McCarthy Show. Peter Marquardt, vice president and general manager of NBC 26, says they’ll also be adding an additional broadcast this year.
“What’s new this year, is it also includes Family Night,” Marquardt said of the partnership. “From our standpoint, we look at it as an honor to carry the event and we really look at it as a vote of confidence from the Packers because they could have really gone multiple different avenues to air this event and they came to us, so we’re very excited to have it.”
Being able to host the exclusive programming from the team is a valuable honor, Marquardt says, because of how important the Packers are to the community and to NBC 26’s viewers.
“The Packers are a key driver of news in our market, so to have a partnership with one of the premiere brands in our market and really premiere brands in the NFL,” he said. “It’s a big deal for us. We see it as a great way to connect with our viewers. It’s a great way to connect and help our advertisers and it’s a great way to serve our community.”
NBC 26 has been the Official Packers Station for the previous five years.
