Pastor Dan Taylor shares his Good Friday message to the congregation
A special day for many as the Lenten season comes to a close this weekend with Easter. To honor the day, many local churches throughout the community conducted their Good Friday church services already in the afternoon.
“Most people don’t realize that Jesus was in trial during the entire night,” said John Anderson, Pastor of Hope Community Church. “He was sentenced to be crucified in the morning and by noon, or by 1:00, Jesus hung on the cross and he died somewhere between noon and 3:00. In many church traditions throughout Shawano, Good Friday services are in the afternoon to celebrate Jesus’ death.”
Hope Community Church and River Valley Church came together Friday afternoon to hold a combined Good Friday celebration, which was well attended. Pastor Anderson says the combined Good Friday service has started to become a tradition between the two congregations.
“I would say [we’ve been doing this] for six or seven years,” said Pastor Anderson. “River Valley is such a great church and Pastor Dan [Taylor] is such a great pastor and so we partner together and bring two church families together on Good Friday. We worship together and have a message, then just hang out.”
The Good Friday message from Pastor Dan Taylor dealt with forgiveness and included thoughts about how in Jesus, people can find that forgiveness.
