The prosecution of an 84-year-old Lena woman who was charged in connection with a triple-fatal crash has been suspended.
Thelma Yashinsky was charged for the accident that occurred in October of 2015, when she reportedly drove through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.
She was facing five counts, including three felony counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle for the deaths of her husband, 91-year-old Edward Yashinsky, and two other Oconto Falls women; 96-year-old Leora Raisler and 89-year-old Grace Hyland.
With the deferred prosecution agreement, all charges will be dropped against Yashinky, so as she doesn’t commit a crime for three years, and she must provide a letter from a physician in one and two years, stating there are no medical reasons she should not drive.
If the agreements are violated, prosecutors will be allowed to re-open the case.
