Entries are still being accepted for the 11th annual George Putz Memorial Student Writing Contest, put on by the Shawano Area Writers. The contest is open to students and comprised of three groups, divided by grades that will compete in categories of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. The contest awards first, second, and third place, along with honorable mention, with cash prizes awarded to winning entries. The deadline of March 31 is approaching. There will also be an award ceremony held at the Mielke Arts Center on April 29. Official entry rules and contests can be found on the Shawano Area Writers website.
