On Thursday, March 9, just before 1 p.m. Shawano County Sheriff’s Officials took a 49-year-old Wittenberg man into custody on charges of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
The arrest came after the man arrived at a pre-determined location in the Town of Belle Plaine to meet with who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Sheriff’s officials arrested him at the meeting location.
Evidence against the man was gathered over a three-month period, as the suspect believed he was chatting with a 15-year-old girl, while unknowingly communicating with authorities. According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, the conversations with the man included sexual content.
The man is being held in the Shawano County jail while allegations are forwarded to the Shawano County District Attorney.
It is the 51st arrest related to internet sex crimes in the county, according the sheriff’s department.
