Top-seeded Shiocton managed to jump ahead to a 10-4 lead in the sectional semi-final match with No. 3 Roncalli, but a 14-0 run right before the break allowed the Jets to grab the lead and momentum heading into the locker room.
Roncalli would hold on to the 70-62 win, pulling within one game of a state appearance.
Shiocton couldn’t find a way to slow down Roncalli junior Mitchel Schneider, as he poured in a game-high 32 points, while knocking down seven 3-pointers. Roncalli as a team drained 11 in the game. Chombi Lambert added 17 points for the Jets.
Three players for Shiocton wound up with double-digit scoring totals, led by Josh Leitzke’s 16 points. Nate Schmidt and Brandon Spencer each scored 14 points.
The Shiocton Chiefs finished their season with a 19-6 overall record. They also captured a CWC-8 and regional title for a successful tournament run.
