Roy A. Moericke, age 89, of the Town of Wyoming, Waupaca County, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home.
Roy Arnold Moericke was born on April 1, 1927 in the Town of Wyoming to Arnold and Clara (Kleman) Moericke. He entered the U.S. Army and served stateside until 1956. He was united in marriage on November 19, 1954 to Luella A. Georgeson at Hitterdahl-Northland Lutheran Church parsonage, Iola. The couple dairy farmed for many years in the Town of Wyoming. Roy’s favorite pastime was working in the field and cutting firewood. He loved spending time with his family and friends playing volleyball, baseball, and cribbage. Roy also enjoyed snowmobiling, throwing horseshoes, swimming, and paddling around in his boat.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Luella; and nine children, Jean (LeRoy) Johnson, Pam (Dan) Holbrook, Missy (Dan) Miller, Lori (Greg) Peterson, Royce (Annette) Moericke, Eric (Tammy) Moericke, Lee Moericke, Sarah (Randy) Besler, and Bill Moericke. There are 35 grandchildren, Luke Holbrook, Jacob (Jen) Holbrook, Christina (Jason) Zale, Katherine Holbrook, Hannah Holbrook, Abigail Holbrook, Israel Holbrook, Jordan Holbrook, Lana (Brian) Fink, Jillian Miller, Michael Miller, Jared (Crystal) Miller, Ethan Peterson, Joseph Peterson, Seth Peterson, Annie Peterson, Adeline Moericke, Jonathon Moericke, Timothy Moericke, Josiah Moericke, Clarice Moericke, Asa Moericke, Ilana Moericke, Anton Moericke, Ian Moericke, Micaiah Moericke, Maddison Moericke, Jett Moericke, Conlan Moericke, Kira Moericke, Samantha Besler, Betsy (Adam) Wiebe, Heather (Mark) Tiseling, Ben Johnson, and Brad (Jenni) Johnson. She is further survived by 25 great grandchildren; one sister Margaret (Mrs. David) Bonikowski; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael Thomas Moericke, a granddaughter Rosalee Holbrook, a brother Donald (Marlene) Moericke, and a sister Jeanette (Roy) Schmidt.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 11:00 AM at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, Clintonville. Rev. Kurt Hettinga will officiate and inurnment will be in the spring at Big Falls Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, is assisting the family.
