Green Bay Packers’ running back Eddie Lacy will be an unrestricted free agent one week from Thursday unless the team resigns him to a new deal.
According to Lacy, that’s possible. He tells ESPN he needed two screws, two wires, and one plate to repair a bone on his left ankle, which he injured October ninth in a Sunday night Packers’ home victory against the New York Giants.
Lacy says he’s in his best position to make a contribution to whatever NFL team he ends up signing with and he expects to start running on hard surfaces soon, after he took a video of himself running in a rehab pool.
Lacy’s agent is expected to meet with Packers’ officials this week at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
