It will be a busy fundraising Saturday in the Shawano area, with both the Numb Nutzz Jamboree at Cecil Cove and the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake at Lakeshore Lanes in Shawano.
Both events in the past were held on different dates, but organizers for the events decided this year to hold one big fundraising celebration.
“Usually [Big Brothers, Big Sisters] run their Bowl for Kids in March, because we do such a big event for them, they said let’s wave that and go ahead and do it on the same day,” said John Loch, one of the founders of Screamin’ Head Buzz. “We’re thinking, and hoping, that the whole day is going to be one big fundraiser.”
The Numb Nutzz Jamboree will feature a full slate of activities, headlined by the band Johnny Wad, who perform at 3 p.m. There will be Fire on Ice racing, a fishing derby, bean bag tournament, and a meat raffle. The entire public is encouraged to attend.
To make things convenient, there will again be a sponsored shuttle for people to take from either event.
“Even those that are bowling, if you don’t want to drive, just jump on the bus, they bring you right to the tent,” Loch offered. “[The shuttle] last year started out really slow, but the first 45 minutes or an hour people caught on and it was a hit. I think it makes everything easier for everybody.”
Bowl for Kids Sake has two shifts starting bowling at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bowlers can win 50/50 raffles and door prizes. The heated tent at the jamboree opens at 12 p.m. noon. The Numb Nutzz Jamboree helps raise money for Big Brothers, Big Sisters and other charities.
