Vehicles Are Theft Targets In Shawano
The Shawano Police Department received multiple calls of attempted vehicle break-ins over the weekend.
On East Center Street, the caller reported that they noticed someone attempted to get inside their vehicle, and left footprints in the snow. The caller said they were going to follow the footprints.
On South Washington Street. the caller said some unsuccessfully attempted to get inside their vehicle, but left with nothing missing.
On S. Franklin Street, one resident reported someone went through their vehicle but did not notice anything missing.
On East Elizabeth Street, the caller said their vehicle door was left open after someone got inside. The caller told Police that they followed footprints to Lieg Ave.
Shawano Police Department has been continuing to remind vehicle owners to lock their doors at night, and leave anything of value out of the vehicle, or at least out of plain sight. In the past, similar reports showed that the vehicles did not show signs of forced entry. Police Chief Mark Kohl has reported in the past, that the suspects are checking to see if doors are unlocked, and then enter if they are.
