Alvin J. Fish, age 59 of Neopit, started his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday morning, February 4, 2017 in Neopit.
Alvin was born August 31, 1957 in Keshena, Wisconsin, a son of the late Vincent W Fish, Sr. and Joan E. Maskewit-Fowler. He attended Shawano schools and later graduated from Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. On July 31, 1979 he entered the United States Navy where he served for four years. Alvin was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Upon returning from service he was employed in home construction and was an over the road truck driver. Alvin was currently employed by Menominee Tribal Enterprises doing maintenance on the logging roads.
Alvin is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and spend time with his grandchildren. He was known as a hell raiser with a good sense of humor. He had a nickname for everyone. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Alvin possessed a heart of gold, and was willing to help anyone, anytime, with anything.
Survivors include his sons, Clarence (Terri Sanapaw) Fish of Neopit, Garett Keshena of Virginia, Richard Boyd of Texas, Zachary “Z” Doud of Shawano; his grandchildren, Vincent W. “Kenew” Fish, Utahnna Starr Fish, Ciarra Fish, and Daro James; his soul mate, Polly “Sweetheart” Pleshek; his sisters, Sandra Jesko of Shawano, and Robin Maskewit of Shawano; his brother, Thomas Pierce of Minnesota; his nieces and nephews, Michelle “Puppster” (Israel Gonzalez) Pocan, Shawn (Stephanie) Daniels, Nicole “Cold One” Fish, Markie “Scooter Bates” (Warren) Miller, Alan Fish, Marly Fish, Chase “Chassity” Roth, Bryce Baller, Scott Baller, Jr., Evelyn Baller, Kammy Jo Wayka, Nicolet Wayka, Kayla Klitz, Kyle Van DePutte, Josel Perez-Gonzalez, Elaina Perez-Gonzalez, Aaron Pennewell, Sydney Fish, Kevin Miller, and Creasa Miller; and two goddaughters, Carol Voldsness and Molly Schlichting. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent W. Fish, Jr.
A Funeral Mass for Alvin J. Fish will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. Fr. Francis Zurbano will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Community Center in Neopit after 4:00 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 until the time of Mass on Thursday. A Parish Wake Service will be conducted on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. The Veterans of the Menominee Nation will conduct Military Honors for Alvin.
