This Saturday, Feb. 4, the Shawano Area Matthew 25 Homeless Shelter will be holding a soup fundraiser at Hillcrest Primary School in Shawano from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. SAM25 President, Muffy Culhane, explains the fundraiser will offer a variety of delicious soups and prizes.
“Each guest will receive a bowl of soup, two breadsticks, two cookies, and a drink,” said Culhane. “We will have 50/50 raffles, we have Thrivent silent auction baskets, we also have a SAM25 marketplace where we will be selling t-shirts, SAM25 soup mugs, cookies, breadsticks, and quarts of take home soup.”
There will be no shortage of soups the fundraiser has to offer, as much of the food to be enjoyed has been provided by a number of local restaurants.
“Chicken dumpling, chicken rice, lots of different chicken soups, tomato soup, cream and broccoli soups, and chili,” Culhane explained of the menu. “All of the food has been donated by the generous community, so that’s wonderful.”
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 at Charlie’s County Market, BMO Harris Bank, and CoVantage Credit Union, otherwise they will be $10 at the door. Children 10 and under are admitted for half the price, $4 in advance and $5 at the door.
All proceeds from the soup fundraiser will benefit SAM25, the homeless shelter in Shawano that helps those affected by poverty to improve their circumstances to become self-sufficient, and have a hope for a better future.
