As the winter weather returned to the area, local law enforcement is reminding motorists as always to drive safely when driving conditions deteriorate. Not only are drivers encouraged to drive cautiously on slick roads, but also ensure that your vehicle can be seen by other drivers when visibility is low by always driving with your headlights on in that situation.
Some may view this as a no-brainer, but it’s a newly enacted law in the state of Wisconsin.
“Driving with your headlights on is now required by law when weather conditions limit visibility,” said Shawano Police Chief Mark Kohl. “Fog, rain, snow, things like that and that’s why a lot of these newer cars now have those automatic lights on as well.”
Governor Scott Walker signed the bill into law last March.
