This time of year Hillcrest Primary School in Shawano is beginning its 4-K enrollment for the upcoming year, where they will be holding two open house sessions Thursday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 2 – 7 p.m.
The faculty of the school will be helping parents easily register their children during those dates.
“There will be an online portion, where we’ll help everybody get logged in an get a password and login, but there will still be some paperwork that needs to be filled out,” said Hillcrest Principal Troy Edwards. “Skyward family access we’ll help you set up. You can check lunch balances, milk balances, grades, so it’s good to get in the habit of checking that because it will be more important in middle school and high school for checking grades and attendance.”
Edwards says any student turning four by September 1st of 2017 will be eligible for 4-K, but they also have a 3-K program for students who parents may feel are developmentally behind.
“If you do have a 3-year-old that you think may have some academic or developmental delays, we do also have a 3-K program,” said Edwards. “Usually we have close to eight to ten students in our 3-K program as well.”
When going in for registration, there are a few things parents are asked to bring with them. Principal Edwards asks parents bring a birth certificate, a copy of proof of residency, and immunization records if possible.
Edwards says although the deadline to register is still a way out, it helps the school plan for staffing and other materials when students are signed up sooner rather than later. Those already in the 4-K program they do not need to register as kindergarten students are already enrolled.
