The New London Chamber of Commerce is in search of its new Executive Director, after it was announced they accepted current Executive Director Laurie Shaw’s resignation.
Shaw will be the new Director of Administrative Services with St. Joseph’s Residence in New London beginning on Feb. 1, but she says she’ll make sure the new Executive Director will have an easy transition.
“I will stay here at the Chamber helping lead the staff until a smooth transition is made,” Shaw assured. “I’ve got a very strong executive team and Board of Directors that are ready to jump in and help as needed, so for any of our members they don’t need to worry.”
Shaw explains she’s learned a lot in the decade plus from the position.
“It’s really the job of the Chamber Director, I believe, to read those needs and make the most of what you have,” Shaw said. “It’s your job to be positive, upbeat, and you’re a real support system for the businesses and organizations. I’m really proud of what we accomplished in the community. Our Chamber is awesome, our people are awesome, and I’m just thankful I got to play an important part in that.”
Looking back, Laurie says one of the biggest impacts she’s helped make in her time working for the Chamber was the relocating of the new office facility on North Shawano Street.
“That’s something that was a project started many years before I came, but I’m honored to be the director who was able to make that dream a reality.”
The Chamber in New London will begin their search for a new Executive Director, who will work with the over 250 chamber members. For those who may be interested in the position, a job description is posted on the chamber’s website.
