James “Jim” C. Mehlberg, age 85 of Waupaca, formerly of the Marion area, passed away January 2, 2017 at Crossroads Care Center of Crystal River, Waupaca.
James Charles Mehlberg was born December 31, 1931 in the Town of Dupont, to the late Henry & Cynthia (Robins) Mehlberg. Jim attended and completed his education at Big Falls School; after which he worked various jobs including helping his father at the cheese factory and farm-related work. When he became of age, Jim served his country with the U.S. Army, stationed mostly in Hawaii working at the Army Hospital. Following discharge from the military, Jim worked at Marion Plywood for many years, the Marion Cheese Factory, as well as the F.W.D., Clintonville. He later moved to Plymouth, WI and also worked as a cheese maker there for a time. Jim retired and lived in Manawa, WI for much of his retirement, later relocating to Waupaca. Jim loved to hunt and go fishing especially in his younger years. He will be remembered as a patriot, and honored as a United States Veteran.

Brothers: Carl Mehlberg, Marion; Andy Mehlberg, Big Falls; & David Mehlberg, Big Falls
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rosemary Huebner & Flossie Much; & a brother, Lawrence Mehlberg.
A graveside committal service followed by burial will be held 10 AM, Friday, January 6, 2017 at Big Falls Cemetery, Big Falls. Military honor rites will be conducted by members of the William Bertram American Legion Post # 198 of Marion.
