Lillian B. Mehlhorn, age 98 of Shawano, slipped away from this life on earth on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Atrium Post-Acute Care at Birch Hill in Shawano.
Lillian was born in the Town of Washington, Shawano County, on January 28, 1918, to the late Henry and Hulda (Matthe) Meisner. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Church in Cecil. On January 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arthur Mehlhorn. The couple farmed for many years in Angelica before moving to Shawano. Lillian worked at Shawano Hospital and the Bilmay Hotel for several years.
Lillian was very active in community activities. She was a member of Homemaker’s Club for 73 years, a 4-H leader, member of several card playing groups, and exhibited and worked at the Shawano County Fair. She was also active in the local chapter of AARP. She was very talented in and much enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She participated faithfully for many years in Ladies Aid and Tabitha groups as well as Bible classes at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Friends and relatives enjoyed her sense of humor, wit, and mischievousness.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Barbara (Fran) McNeill of Grayslake, Illinois, and Judy Schultz of Green Bay; three grandsons, Mehul (Cindy) Anjaria of Corona, California, Aaron (Shannon) Schultz of Cedarburg, and Jonathan Schultz of Green Bay; five great-grandchildren, August, Martha, and Hazel Schultz of Cedarburg, and Bailey and Sawyer Schultz of Green Bay. She is further survived by three step-grandsons, Steve (Shirley) McNeill of Racine, Jeff McNeill of Round Lake, and Timothy (Sherie) McNeill of Wauwatosa; her sister, June Bohm of Florida, and her sister-in-law, Charlotte Mehlhorn of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her sons-in-law, Bhadrakumar Anjaria and Arvin Schultz; and her sisters, Loretta Rusch and Margery Muck.
Funeral services for Lillian B. Mehlhorn will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
