A traffic accident at the intersection of Freedom Road (County E) and County Highway EE in Outagamie County has claimed the lives of two people Thursday afternoon.
According to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, a dump truck that was driving west on Highway EE ran a stop sign and hit a car driving northbound on Highway E. The truck is owned by a tree service in Appleton, and it hit the driver’s side of the car, pushing it off the road and into a ditch.
A 91-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman in the car were both killed before they could be transported to a hospital. The driver of the dump truck was a 40-year-old man, who was taken to a Green Bay hospital. His injuries appear to be non life-threatening.
Investigators were on scene much of the evening, eventually clearing the area just before 9 p.m. Names are being withheld at this time.
