Robert L. Schneider, age 82, of rural Bear Creek (Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County) passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his home.
Robert Lee Schneider was born April 14, 1934 in the Town of Maple Creek, Outagamie County, to Art and Grace (Affeldt) Schneider. He entered the U.S. Army and served proudly from 1955 – 1958. Robert was united in marriage on October 4, 1958 to Ruby Ann Mary Young at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Robert and Ruby raised their children and were lifelong residents of the Bear Creek / Deer Creek area. In 1958 he started working in the maintenance department at Hillshire Farm, New London, until his retirement in 1997. His wife preceded him in death on May 8, 2012.
Robert was a member of St. Mary’s parish where he actively volunteered as an usher and with lots of other church events. He was also a handyman who could fix just about anything. Robert helped out neighbors and relatives whenever needed. He enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting, smelt or sucker fishing, and making trips up north with his children. Robert will be remembered most as a good provider for his family; a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather.
Survivors include four children, Gordon (Betsy) Schneider of New London, Richard (Jennine) Schneider of Brighton, CO, Bonnie Felts of New London, and Robert (Wanda) Schneider of Shiocton. There are 21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. There are two sisters, Betty Preibe of New London and Joyce Taylor of Minneapolis, MN. There are two brothers, Leon (Doris) Schneider of Fond du Lac and Dennis (Ann) Schneider of Hortonville. There is one sister-in-law, Victoria Schultz of New London and one brother-in-law, Ivan (Theresa) Young of Shawano. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby, an infant daughter, Beverly, a sister, Kathy, and two brothers, Ronnie and David.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Fr. John “Jack” Mullarkey will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of mass at the church. Military Honors will be provided at church by members of the VFW Post 664, American Legion Post 63, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63, all of Clintonville. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family.
