A 23-year-old Weyauwega woman was accused of choking her mother, according to a criminal complaint. Samantha D. Shanklin was charged with felony strangulation, felony intimidation of a victim with use of force, as well as disorderly conduct. According to the police report, Shanklin and her mother gave a man, whom her mother knew, a ride home when he allegedly threatened them. A Waupaca County Deputy was called to the scene to escort the man out of the home. An hour later, the same deputy was dispatched to the home again when he found the mother bleeding with gouge marks on her neck. According to the mother, Shanklin was upset that her mother did not call 911 about the intoxicated man, so she began throwing items in the house. Shanklin allegedly choked the mother from behind, when the mother dialed 911. According to the complaint, Shanklin had a blood-alcohol level of .23, almost three times the legal driving limit.
