Two teenagers are facing charges after a police chase involving a stolen car in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Brown and Oconto counties.
According to authorities, a vehicle drove away during a traffic stop in Howard at about 2:30 a.m. The vehicle took off north in the southbound lanes of I-41, at times reaching speeds that exceeded 100 mph.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department assisted Brown County Deputies by deploying a spike strip. However, before the vehicle reached the strip, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and went off the road on County Highway I, just west of Highway 141 in Oconto County.
By that time, Brown County officials arrived to block the suspect’s vehicle from going any further. A few squad cars as well as the suspect’s stolen vehicle were damaged in the pursuit. Both teens were taken into custody and authorities also recovered a handgun from the vehicle.
Only minor injuries were sustained by a Brown County Deputy and one of the suspects. No other information has been released.
